National Moth Week (NMW) is an annual citizen science event that celebrates the beauty, life cycles, and habitats of moths. “Moth-ers” of all ages and abilities are encouraged to learn about, observe, and document moths in their backyards, parks, and neighborhoods. Nature Calgary and the Weaselhead Glenmore Park Preservation Society are pleased to offer Alberta’s only public event in Calgary that will provide inquisitive moth-ers of all abilities a chance to learn about moth lighting, the moths (and other nocturnal insects) that live in the Weaselhead, and an opportunity to photograph specimens to help contribute to our understanding of park biodiversity. Guests will be guided by expert Dave Lawrie (President of the Alberta Lepidopterists’ Guild) who is sure to inspire them on becoming Alberta’s next generation of moth-ers!
